'Disco Elysium,' a game that drew regret from fans for its lack of Korean language support despite its exceptional gameplay, is set to receive an official Korean localization.
Developer ZA/UM announced today (the 12th) via a Steam post that 'Disco Elysium' will officially receive Korean language support. The sudden decision to localize the game seven months after its release appears to have been influenced by the recent fan-led translation project by Team Waldo. In its announcement, ZA/UM stated that it is "collaborating with a team of hand-picked fans" to carry out the localization, noting that the work is currently about 35% complete.
Meanwhile, following the collaboration with ZA/UM, Team Waldo has transitioned from public to private translation to improve quality and manage personnel more efficiently. They added that they plan to release a draft translation of the first 30% of the game after a brief review process in the near future.
Released on October 16 of last year, ZA/UM's 'Disco Elysium' is a classic adventure RPG featuring a deep narrative and an expansive system. The game has been both a critical and commercial success, holding a Metacritic score of 91 and widely regarded as one of the best games of the past year.
