The Apex Legends Global Series will return for its sixth competitive year with an expanded global calendar, increased prize money, and structural changes aimed at improving competitive stability, organizers announced this week.
Year 6 follows a landmark conclusion to the previous season, when Oblivion captured the Year 5 Championship title in Sapporo, Japan, in front of a reported crowd of more than 38,000 spectators. Organizers said the new season builds on that momentum with three major international live events and a total prize pool of $7 million, an increase of $1 million over the previous year.
The upcoming season will feature three marquee LAN competitions. The Split 1 Playoffs are scheduled to take place at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, followed by the Split 2 Playoffs in Las Vegas, Nevada. The season will culminate with the Championship returning to Sapporo next winter. Each of the three events will offer a $2 million prize pool.
Organizers are also introducing several competitive rule updates. Official roster transfer windows will be added to reduce midseason lineup changes, and players will be required to compete in a minimum of 12 matches for their results to count toward Championship Points. Legend Bans, a strategic feature already used at the highest levels of play, will be expanded to the Challenger Circuit.
Registration is now open for the ALGS Online Open, formerly known as the Preseason Qualifiers, continuing the series’ open-entry structure for aspiring teams.
A global calendar with higher stakes
Daniel Suarez, studio general manager at Respawn Entertainment, said the new roadmap reflects a continued focus on competitive play. Monica Dinsmore, head of esports at Electronic Arts, added that the changes are intended to support long-term growth and clearer pathways from amateur competition to the professional stage.

The Pro League will again be divided into two splits across four regions — Americas, EMEA, APAC North, and APAC South — with teams competing for prize money and Championship Points throughout the season. Challenger Circuit events and a Last Chance Qualifier will provide additional opportunities for teams to reach the Championship.
