According to an announcement on Usain Bolt's Twitter page, the eight-time Olympic Gold Medalist and world-record-holding sprinter has become a co-owner of the Irish esports team WYLDE. Posted along with a brief announcement video, Bolt states, "I am Usain Bolt and WYLDE is my team. I never start something unless I plan to win."

The organization is very new. Formed two years ago by Stephen Daly and David Cronin — one the former leader of the American Ireland Fund and the other a former JP Morgan banker — WYLDE's website states that it is "truly worldwide, with headquarters in Ireland, deep roots in the Caribbean and representing winning teams and professional players across France, Germany, UK, The Netherlands, Ireland, Slovenia, Spain and many more."

Currently the team has invested in games such as Rainbow Six Siege, Rocket League, VALORANT, and FIFA. The organization states that they have community-run tournaments, coaching for young talent, and plan to host a Jamaican bootcamp in the near future.  On WYLDE's website, the organization has created a video detailing Usain's involvement with the organization.

"With me and the Caribbean and my partners in Ireland, WYLDE was born global. I've been a gamer all my life. It's a big community, and it's just getting bigger. Esports has become so big that people are making a job out of it., " Bolt states in the video. "If you're very competitive, gaming's for you, trust me. It's like track and field. I have to work hard, I have to make sure I stay on top of things, so it's the same thing esports and gaming."

Bolt is considered by many to be the greatest sprinter of all time, and has tremendous reach both in Jamaica as well as the rest of the world. In the past he has cited video games as helping him with competing.
