Popular Twitch streamer Nicholas "NICKMERCS" Kolcheff and a bunch of other well-known content creators recently got together for the MFAM BBQ event and the streaming community is stunned by their behavior.

NICKMERCS shared a photo on September 18 that showed hundreds of streamers and fans gathered in a field, not a single person wearing a mask or seeming concerned about being so close to so many people. The community immediately noticed these details due to the delta COVID strain surging through the country.

MFAM BBQ lets fans meet NICKMERCS (and maybe catch COVID)

NICKMERCS' MFAM BBQ event took place in Florida at the George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. The event was full of games and activities, including a pull-up contest, mini-golf, football toss, and cornhole. There was also a NICKMERCS meet and greet area, a kid zone, and a relaxation room. A live DJ was also present as well as plenty of food.

The event was an incredible time for fans who wanted to see NICKMERCS and other big-name streamers like TimTheTatman, FaZe Swagg, SypherPK, and Cloakzy. But many were also calling it a "super spreader event."

In a recent tweet, NICKMERCS stated that there were 10,000 MFAM BBQ attendees. None of these guests were required to wear a mask. On the official MFAM website, the FAQ section states that "masks are not required" although it's highly recommended "regardless of vaccination status." This means that guests don't have to be vaccinated to attend.

While Florida has been known throughout the past two years as not really caring about COVID or the safety of people who are vulnerable to the virus, the streaming community was more concerned that a big-name streamer with such a large influence on young fans would do something many viewed as inconsiderate and dangerous.

"So COVID doesn't exist, huh?" one person said in response to NICKMERCS post about meeting thousands of fans.

"No way they checked vaccinations for everyone when there's not a mask in sight here. Super irresponsible, you guys should really know better," another said when NICKMERCS showed a picture of fans gathered in the field.

Despite the concern, the event was praised by attendees. One fan said he was glad to have found NICKMERCS' and his community. It was a chance for gamers cooped up during COVID last year to have a chance to meet and instantly become friends.

"Yesterday was special. Having all my closest friends, family, community, in one place, livin’ it up, creating memories. Listen, I don't know a lot. But to me, that’s gotta be what this is all about. Until next time baby!" NICKMERCS exclaimed in a recent tweet.
