Twitch to sell games and to share 5% revenue with streamers in spring

On February 27th, the streaming platform Twitch announced through its official blog that it will be selling games and digital content.

Games purchased on Twitch can be downloaded and played through the Twitch Launcher or other existing programs like Uplay. Twitch also said it will have launch partners, including Ubisoft, Telltale Games, Digital Extremes, Hi Rez Studios, Double Fine Games, tinyBuild, Devolver Digital, and Paradox Interactive, among others, with many more to come.

Viewers can purchase games on Twitch from anywhere in the world using an Amazon account. Although all pricing will be in US dollars at launch, the company will support more currencies in the coming months.

Additionally, Twitch mentioned the revenue share with partnered streamers. When viewers buy games from a streamer’s channel, 5% of the revenue from the game sales and other items will be distributed to the streamer.

Get it on Twitch! is slated to begin service this spring, and more information can be found on the official blog.
