Tripwire Presents and developer Arctic Hazard have delayed the release of Norse: Oath of Blood, a Viking-era, turn-based tactical game set in dark age Norway.
The game is now scheduled to launch on Windows PC on Feb. 17 via Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store. Versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are planned to follow in the spring. No specific console release date was announced.
According to the publisher, the delay is intended to give the development team additional time to refine the experience and ensure a smoother launch across platforms. The companies said the goal is to deliver a more polished tactical experience for players when they begin the game’s story-driven campaign. Additional updates are expected to be shared through the game’s official social media channels.
Norse: Oath of Blood is a single-player tactics game that blends turn-based combat with settlement management and narrative decision-making. It places players in the role of Gunnar, a young Viking warrior whose father, Jarl Gripr, is killed by a rival chieftain, Steinarr Far-Spear. The story centers on Gunnar’s efforts to rebuild his strength, form alliances and ultimately confront those responsible for his family’s downfall.
Tripwire Presents Announces Delay for NORSE: Oath of Blood, Now Launching on PC Feb. 17 and Consoles in Spring
Set against a historically grounded depiction of Norway during the Viking Age, the game emphasizes careful positioning, terrain use and timing during tactical battles. Players command a small warband, with each encounter designed to reward planning and adaptability rather than brute force.

Outside of combat, players are tasked with building and managing a settlement, starting from a modest camp and expanding it into a functioning village. Resources gathered through exploration and conflict can be used to recruit new allies, upgrade structures and strengthen Gunnar’s forces. Choices made throughout the campaign are designed to influence character relationships and shape the broader narrative.
The story for Norse: Oath of Blood was written by author Giles Kristian, with an original soundtrack featuring compositions by Dan Wakefield alongside music from neo-folk band Galdorcræft. The game has not yet received an official ESRB rating for PC, though console versions are expected to carry a Mature rating.
