San Francisco franchise for the Overwatch League announces ‘San Francisco Shock’

 

San Francisco Shock, the new San Francisco team for the Overwatch League, has been announced.


A news introducing the San Francisco Shock and related information came up on the Overwatch League’s official website on October 16th. NRG Esports is the parent organization of the San Francisco Shock, of which Shaquille O’Neal, an NBA star, is known to be one of the investors.


Andy Miller, Founder and CEO of NRG Esports, expressed his feelings on the team brand launch by saying, “There is no better market to establish as the epicenter of esports than San Francisco. We are so excited to bring a hometown esports team to the region that has been central to the growth of gaming in North America.”


The logo for the San Francisco Shock represents the seismic activity of San Francisco and uses the colour gold to represent the California gold rush back in the 1800s. They also chose to use the bright orange to represent the city’s famous landmark, Golden Gate Bridge, to which they also revealed Doomfist’s skin in the same bright colour along with.


NRG Esports has completed their roster for the Overwatch League after they recruited Sinatraa back in September, a top Flex player in NA region. The list of their players playing in the League as part of the San Francisco Shock goes as follows:
