On November 5 (KST), in the quarterfinals of the 2026 LoL World Championship held at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas, Gen.G Esports claimed a 3-0 victory over LYON. Dominating their opponents through an overwhelming gap in raw capability across all three games, Gen.G will face IG in the semifinals.

In the final Game 3, as soon as Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon's Taliyah reached level 6, he ambushed top lane with his ultimate to take down "Dhokla"'s Gangplank. With the CS gap already widened significantly under pressure from Kim "Kiin" Ki-in's Aurora, the gap in growth between the top laners became extreme from the early game. Gen.G relentlessly targeted top, and "Inspired"'s Trundle, who came to clean up the situation, was caught as well.

Although Kim "Berserker" Min-cheol's Corki and "Isles"' Alistar picked up their first kill by taking down Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk's isolated Xayah, Kang "Saint" Seong-in's Anivia was slain in the mid lane in the meantime. With the gap widening to 3,000 gold in just 10 minutes, LYON rallied back. In a teamfight that began by targeting Taliyah, LYON swept up four kills unanswered, showing their determination to catch up.

While Gen.G still led in global gold, LYON looked to contest through another skirmish. In a standoff ahead of the third dragon, Alistar cleanly initiated a teamfight, and LYON calmly eliminated the front line one by one to secure a major victory. In response, Gen.G adjusted their objective teamfight strategy, and it worked. Positioning themselves early at dragon soul timing, they quickly finished off the dragon, and in the ensuing fight, Taliyah's ultimate completely divided the opposing formation to secure the win.

Baron also fell to Gen.G, and the global gold lead rapidly expanded to over 6,000. Gen.G secured the next dragon as well, as Taliyah's ultimate completely blocked LYON's entry, denying them any opportunity. Ultimately, after scoring an Ace without a single casualty in the final mid teamfight, Gen.G brought the series to a close without an upset.
