Chinese Taipei defeated Vietnam to advance to the Asian Games 'League of Legends' (hereinafter 'LoL') finals for the second consecutive time.
In the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 'LoL' semifinals held on October 1 at Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, Chinese Taipei defeated Vietnam with a set score of 2-0. Winning two consecutive sets, Chinese Taipei secured at least a silver medal and now awaits its finals opponent.
Chinese Taipei lost to South Korea in the group stage on September 30, but defeated Hong Kong and India to finish second in Group B with a 2-1 record. In the semifinals, they snapped the winning streak of Vietnam, who had finished first in Group A after defeating Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and the United Arab Emirates.
The two teams also met in the semifinals at the previous Hangzhou Games. At that time, Chinese Taipei won 2-0 to advance to the finals, and once again overcame Vietnam by the same score. Vietnam finished the tournament with a bronze medal. The 'LoL' event at these Games awards bronze medals to both losing semifinalists without a separate third-place match. Vietnam, having finished fourth at the Hangzhou Games, earned a medal this time.
South Korea will face Saudi Arabia on October 1 at 1:30 PM for the remaining spot in the finals. If South Korea wins, they will battle Chinese Taipei for the gold medal, following their matchup at the Hangzhou Games. The finals will take place on October 2 at noon at Aichi Sky Expo Hall D in a best-of-five format.
