Joo "Duro" Min-kyu had a smooth international debut. Gen.G Esports secured a 3–1 victory over G2 Esports in Round 1 of the 2025 MSI Bracket Stage. Although a complete loss in Game 1 made things look uncertain, it proved to be a false alarm. From Game 2 onward, Gen.G asserted the same overwhelming power they’ve displayed in the LCK, rattling off three consecutive wins to eliminate G2 and advance to the next round.
Below is the full interview with Gen.G Esports support Duro:
What was it like facing G2 in your first MSI and first international event?
Playing today helped me understand G2’s strengths more clearly. Being my first match in an international tournament, it was a meaningful day—I was able to see exactly where I fall short.
How is your local adjustment and condition? Also, could you briefly talk about scrims against foreign teams?
I think I’ve pretty much adapted to the time difference. As for scrims, it’s a bit awkward to discuss them right now.
In Game 1, the opponent’s teamfight power was extremely strong. How do you feel about Game 1, and what feedback did you share afterward?
In Game 1, our laning and overall gameplay didn’t go as we’d planned, so between sets we focused feedback on our ban/pick and in-game execution. We mainly discussed syncing up as a team.
Many say you and Canyon dominated the jungle–support matchup, especially in Game 3. Thoughts on that?
I appreciate that assessment, but honestly all my teammates played their roles well, which made it comfortable for me and Canyon to operate.
Your next opponent will be the winner of Anyone’s Legend vs. FlyQuest. Anyone’s Legend is favored—what do you think of them? Is there a team or player you personally want to face?
First off, Anyone’s Legend seems to excel at designing teamfight engagements. They’re exactly the kind of team I’d like to face. I also played alongside Kael during our time at BNK FEARX, so I’m looking forward to matching up with him again.
Finally, any messages for the fans?
We’re happy to get our first win in a clean 3–1 fashion today, but there are still many matches ahead. If you keep supporting us, we’ll do our best to climb as high as we can. This interview was edited for brevity and clarity.
