According to an official announcement by Fnatic, the LEC organization has build farewell to Jakob “YamatoCannon” Mebdi — the team's Head Coach for two seasons. According to several reports, Fnatic will promote Gonçalo "Crusher" Pinto to their Head Coach position, who most recently worked as the Head Coach of Fnatic TQ. The former-league champions saw strong success with YamatoCannon at the helm, but failed to win any championships.

YamatoCannon joined Fnatic in the midst of a rebuilding period — shortly after the exit of star AD carry Martin “Rekkles” Larsson. Though the team had many struggles and surprising roster moves, the team exceeded expectations and qualified for Worlds. In 2022, the organization assembled what many considered to be a superteam. Though the team failed to make any finals, they once again were one of the strongest teams in the region, and once again qualified for Worlds.

In the announcement on Fnatic's website, the team showed high praise for the coach, stating, "Outside of the Rift, Yamato instantly made a name for himself under the Black and Orange. He defined himself as one of the LoL’s headline coaches for his confident and assertive presence, bringing his in-game expertise to the stage and with it a huge sense of style and showmanship. His extensive suit collection and smart demeanour was a welcome addition to the LEC stage. And of course his motivating and stoic speeches will be remembered and immortalised at Fnatic."

YamatoCannon is one of the most experienced and well respected  coaches in western League of Legends. He has coached a variety of teams in his career, some of them including Team ROCCAT, Splyce, and Team Vitality. He also made history when coaching SANDBOX Gaming — becoming the first western coach to head an LCK team. He initially came to prominence in the League of Legends community as a professional player — competing on teams such as H2K-Gaming, DragonBorns, and Western Wolves.
