On Oct 29, in the first semifinals match of the 2022 LoL World Championship, T1 defeated JD Gaming 3-1 and advanced to the finals. Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong had a great performance playing Lucian in the first three games, which drew a Lucian ban from JDG. In the last game, he played Varus and had another great performance. After the match, Gumayusi joined Jeesun Park on the LCK broadcast for an interview.

Congrats on the win. You’ve reached your first Worlds finals. How do you feel?

I watched the highlights for the finals opening ceremony yesterday, and it was really cool. I’m thrilled to have reached the finals.

It’s an LCK civil war finals for the first time in five years. What do you think?

Since we defeated a lot of LPL teams this time, we have an LCK civil war in the finals. It’s meaningful that the LCK has secured the championship, and we’ll go and take it.

As JDG swept Rogue, it would have been difficult to analyze their game. What did you focus on for today’s match?

There wasn’t that much data to analyze, but since we knew their style — how they play their late game well, their macro, and how they fight well. We also knew that they play through their top and jungle a lot, so we focused on that as we prepared.

The first three games were Aphelios-Lulu vs. Lucian-Nami, then it changed to Jhin vs. Varus. How was the matchup?

I was confident in playing that matchup, so we led them in the first three games. I believe that’s why they banned Lucian in game 4. When I blind-picked Varus, I thought it was alright even if they picked Jhin, so I just locked him in.

Today’s bot duo performance was amazing. Are you satisfied with your performance today?

Frankly, I made some mistakes. Up to now, I had very few deaths, but I died a lot today. Since I dealt damage well — I dealt the most damage in three games, I’ll give myself 80 out of 100.

You’ll be facing the winner of Gen.G vs. DRX in San Francisco. How do you think it’ll go?

I think it’ll be fun. It will be important to analyze the two teams by watching them play tomorrow. I’m kind of sick of playing the teams we’ve always played against, [Laughs] but we’ll still show an interesting match.

If Gen.G wins, it’ll be a rematch of the summer finals. If DRX wins, it’ll be a Mapo high school reunion. What do you think would be more interesting?

First off, I’m sick of playing Gen.G so many times. [Laughs] We played them in the spring finals, summer finals, and now Worlds finals? I don’t want to meet them, and since the DRX storyline is more romantic, I hope DRX makes it.

Lastly, a word to the fans?

There are so many fans who are here to cheer for us. The roar of the crowd made it more fun to play here. I’d also like the fans who woke up early to watch from Korea. I’ll work hard to win the championship. Fighting!
