According to a report by Taiwan’s FTV News Network, the famous Hong Kong content creator and former League of Legends World Champion Lau "Toyz" Wai Kin has recently shared his experience spending time in a local drug rehabilitation center. As the 2022 League of Legends World Championship rages on, the former star mid laner uploaded a video to his livestream highlight channel on Oct. 5 detailing his experiences living in the Taichung Rehabilitation Center, and went on to warn viewers about the dangers of drugs.

In the video, the Worlds winner detailed his struggles in the center: living in a crowded four-person room, relying on sedatives to sleep at night, and enduring the apparent odor of feet on a regular basis. Toyz went on to explain the discomfort of sharing a room with people experiencing drug withdrawal symptoms, as well as enduring a panic attack while in treatment at the center. At the time of this article's publication, there have been consistent uploads of his traditional content  in the three weeks since the aforementioned video. There have, however, been no uploads to his main YouTube channel in the past three weeks.

Toyz had been sent in the past to the rehab center because of traces of drug use being found in his hair. The news comes after he pled guilty to drug trafficking charges earlier this year — allegedly selling marijuana pods. His appointed lawyer asked the court to keep in mind Toyz' unfamiliarity with Taiwanese laws when deciding his sentence. Toyz was initially arrested in late-2021 — accused of forming a drug syndicate with some friends in late-2019, and selling THC online.

Though views on marijuana use have eased in recent years, the Taiwanese government's stance is still quite strict. Regarding the subject, defense lawyer Lee Hui-chu stated in 2020, "For people with no prior convictions and who are first-time offenders on a cannabis charge, the courts are generally deferring prosecution for drug rehabilitation, or offering no indictment in exchange for evaluating the client’s abstinence after undergoing a successful drug rehabilitation."

Toyz is most famous for being the former star player of the Taipei Assassins — competing with TPA and other teams from 2011 to 2015. His biggest accomplishment was helping the team defeat Azubu Frost to win the Season 2 World Championship — considered by most to be one of the game's greatest upsets. He has maintained a successful career as a livestreamer and YouTuber in recent years.
