Day 7 of the 2022 LoL World Championship group stage featured EU’s final hope. While the other two European teams were eliminated over the previous days, Rogue managed to survive. The fourth seed from the LCK, DRX, also advanced. After a tiebreaker match, DRX advanced in 1st place and Rogue, 2nd. Despite getting high expectations from many fans, Top Esports were eliminated along with GAM Esports.

In the first game, Rogue smoothly defeated GAM Esports. The second game was between Top Esports and GAM Esports. GAM Esports picked up Karthus in their jungle as the sole AP damage dealer, which turned out to be a great pick. The game was mostly in Top Esports’ favor. After winning the dance around the Elder dragon, Top Esports stormed in to destroy the Nexus. However, Karthus revived just in time to stop the rush, and just like that, GAM Esports took the wave all the way around for the win. As GAM Esports defeated Top Esports, Rogue secured a spot in the quarters.

The third game of the day featured one of the most bizarre support picks of Worlds 2022. DRX support Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee picked the rumored Heimerdinger, and Rogue support Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus responded with Nasus, hyping up the fans for an interesting matchup. However, DRX took priority in all lanes early and took the game without much trouble.

In the following game, DRX vs. GAM Esports, DRX’s Ashe-Heimerdinger bot duo appeared again. Unlike Rogue, GAM Esports attempted to counter with Kalista-Syndra, while picking Anivia in the mid lane. This game was closer than the previous one, but the Heimerdinger pick proved effective as he dealt more damage than any other opponent.

Top Esports faced Rogue and DRX in the day’s fifth and sixth games. In the game against Rogue, they picked Draven for Yu “JackeyLove” Wen-Bo, which demolished Rogue’s bot duo. At the 6-minute mark, the gold difference between the two bot laners was 1,600. The gap between the two bot laners was too big to overcome. Against DRX, Top Esports snowballed by collecting the dragons. Although Top Esports defeated both Rogue and DRX, it was too late.

As Top Esports defeated both Rogue and DRX, the two teams had to play a tiebreaker. Rogue attacked the top lane in an attempt to snowball, but Kim “Zeka” Geon-woo’s Sylas was too strong to stop. Zeka’s performance recovered all the losses they suffered in the top lane. DRX won the game to finish the group stage in 1st place.
