Overwatch Contenders Matches You Don’t Want to Miss in Week 1

Season 2 of Overwatch Contenders is about kick off and we have 5 to 6 full weeks of action. Whether you are a casual viewer or a hardcore fan, you’ll have plenty of matches to see with players eager players to show their skills and work hard for their Season 2 title. If you are new to Overwatch or strapped on time to watch all the matches, here are 3 matches you probably don’t want to miss this week!

EUROPE

Although Eagle Gaming was eliminated in the quarterfinals of Season 1, they are still a formidable team to look out for. Not only they had the highest record during the group stages in Season 1, they have some big names like KnOxXx and Nico from former Rogue and have other players like GetAmazed and Hqrdest.

Team Gigantti, on the other hand, are our Season 1 Contenders finalist who has swept both Eagle Gaming and Angry Titans during the quarterfinals and semifinals respectively. With the addition to Shadder2k to the team, we have no idea what they will bring and how good they will be; but with their scary support duo, Ripa and Masaa, you can expect this match to be a good one. Let’s hope Eagle Gaming don’t get swept this time.

KOREA

The top 2 biggest teams in South Korea are about to face-off in Week 1. Both Seven and Element Mystic are indisputably the two of the best teams in Korea right now, and this is a match you don’t want to miss. This is especially an important match because they never faced off each other in Season 1, so we have no clue what to expect. We might even get a glimpse of what Korean Contenders Season 2 Finals would look like.

Be on the look out for EM’s DPS, Xzi, and DACO who is considered one of the best, if not the best, off-tank in Korea. And don’t miss out on Bazzi and eVo from Seven. Bazzi is a formidable DPS and eVo, along with Element Mystic’s Pokpo are considered two of the best main tanks in Korean Contenders.

Note: 12:01 AM on July 7th

NORTH AMERICA

Despite both teams failing to make it to the semifinals, this match is expected to be a pretty big one as both XL2 and NRG have picked up few former OWL players. Woohyal from London Spitfire has been picked up XL2 and Rascal from Dallas Fuel has been picked up by NRG. XL2 has also picked up Tizi, who was formerly part of London Spitfire, but we do not know how he will perform yet because has not shown his performance since his departure from Runaway in last August.

Both teams have other big names, such as Flow3r and Adam in XL2 and Stratus, Smex and Fahzix in NRG, and this should be a good one to watch as we will see how much the new roster will strengthen these two teams. Don’t miss out!
