Riot Games has released FIRESTARTER, a new four-track extended play (EP) from K/DA, the virtual pop group built around League of Legends champions Ahri, Akali, Evelynn and Kai'Sa, ahead of a live performance at the Worlds 2026 Opening Ceremony in New York.
According to a release, the EP (Riot Games/Virgin Music Group) is out now on all major streaming platforms and includes “FIRESTARTER,” “WATCH ME,” “NEVER GOING BACK” and “GIRLS.” The title track arrived earlier this week with a music video by Fortiche Production, the studio behind Riot's Emmy-winning animated series Arcane. Riot said the video drew 9.2m views in its first 24 hours.
MIYEON and SOYEON of i-dle return as Ahri and Akali, while Sophie Powers sings as Evelynn and BRIT Award nominee Mimi Webb as Kai'Sa. “GIRLS” is a collaboration with DJ Sona, one of League of Legends' earliest virtual artists, who reimagines the champion Sona as an EDM DJ and producer. The release says it is DJ Sona's first return since 2015.
League of Legends is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game in which two teams of five champions try to destroy each other's base. K/DA's name comes from the in-game shorthand for kills, deaths and assists.
K/DA since POP/STARS
K/DA debuted in 2018 with “POP/STARS,” which went on to earn RIAA platinum certification, and later released the ALL OUT EP. According to Riot, the group has amassed more than 2.7 billion global streams and 1.8 billion video views.
“With the FIRESTARTER EP, we wanted to respect what made people fall in love with K/DA while giving Ahri, Akali, Evelynn, and Kai'Sa the space to evolve as artists after all this time,” said Maria Egan, Global Head of Music & Events at Riot Games. Egan added that the EP shows the group ‘stepping confidently into their next chapter’ with a new look and a diverse group of songs.
Marietta Ren, Director at Fortiche, said: “Bringing K/DA back was a joy for the whole artistic team. We wanted their return to feel more mature and fashion-forward.” Ren added that the studio's artists imagined K/DA ‘setting the runway on fire’ for the new era.
Worlds 2026 performance and physical release
K/DA will perform alongside virtual hip-hop group True Damage at the Worlds 2026 Opening Ceremony Presented by Mastercard on November 14th at Barclays Center in New York. The release calls the League of Legends World Championship the game's ‘biggest stage’.
The EP can be streamed now, and pre-orders are open on Riot Games Music for physical editions, including several limited-edition CD variants and vinyl.
