The pixel-art world of the 1999 PC original returns to mobile. GAMEDUO has launched pre-registration for 'Elancia Mobile', a mobile reinterpretation of Nexon's classic MMORPG 'Elancia'.
GAMEDUO announced on October 22 that pre-registration for 'Elancia Mobile' has opened. The official launch is set for December 1 at 11:00 AM. The game supports Android, iOS, and PC launchers.
'Elancia Mobile' is the first title released under 'NEXON Replay', Nexon's classic IP initiative. 'NEXON Replay' is a project where Nexon opens its legacy IPs to external creators and developers to revive them in new forms. Nexon provides core assets such as original graphic resources, while partner companies handle development and live services. GAMEDUO joined this project to oversee the development, operations, and marketing for 'Elancia'.
The original 'Elancia' is a PC MMORPG launched by Nexon in 1999. It featured no fixed progression path. Players could equip any weapon, switch to their desired class at will, and freely enjoy fishing, crafting, and guild activities.
Original Pixel Art Preserved, Distinct Class Identities Added Maintaining the original world map and ability-based progression while adding class-exclusive skills
'Elancia Mobile' faithfully ports the original pixel graphics along with classic towns and hunting grounds from the original map, such as Lorencia and Ephiloria. It also retains the original progression structure, where increasing weapon abilities allows players to advance to job classes corresponding to those weapons. Players customize their characters by combining options for face, skin tone, and hair. Traveling between continents through inn NPCs, they progress by following main quests and daily refreshed requests.
The biggest change from the original lies in the classes. In the original game, changing classes did not result in a significant difference in playstyle. 'Elancia Mobile' assigns a unique concept to each class and allows players to learn class-exclusive skills via skill books to use in battle. While maintaining the original class system—including Swordsman, Martial Artist, Archer, and Bard—it clearly defines the role each class plays in combat.
Cooperative content has also been newly introduced. Party dungeons where players team up to challenge bosses have been added. Guild content has also been prepared, including guild dungeons that open at scheduled times, guild research, and guild storage. Three types of field bosses that multiple players raid together have also been included.
Life skills content that original players enjoyed also continues. The game supports Blacksmithing, Tailoring, and Alchemy crafting. Players can also enjoy fishing, catching different fish at various fishing spots to collect them in fish tanks. 'Soya'—opening personal shops in the field—and player-to-player trading are also supported.
Reopening Elancia in Your Hands Adding mobile convenience features, with pre-downloads and character creation starting November 27
Convenience features tailored to the mobile environment have also been implemented. 'AI Mode', where the server hunts on behalf of the character, continues for up to 24 hours even after closing the game. A power-saving mode that dims the screen to preserve battery life is also supported.
Pre-registration is available starting October 22 through the official pre-registration page, Google Play, and the Apple App Store. Adding the KakaoTalk channel allows users to receive launch updates. Starting November 27, players can pre-download the game and pre-create their characters. Pre-registration participants will receive limited pre-registration items via in-game mail after official launch, including a floral costume set, an early growth support set, and 100 bait.
A GAMEDUO representative said, "Elancia was a game where the fun came from playing 'my own way' rather than following a fixed path. We kept that freedom while adding distinct class personalities and content to play together so that both veteran players who remember the original and newcomers can jump in comfortably."
Meanwhile, GAMEDUO is a mobile game developer based in Pangyo, founded in 2019. It operates idle RPG 'Cat Hero' and MMORPG 'Another Dungeon' globally.
