Cygames, which canceled the LA leg of the Uma Musume World Tour due to visa issues, announced an unprecedented follow-up measure to reimburse travel and lodging expenses for attendees who planned to visit the site during that period.
Cygames further announced that it plans to reimburse travel and lodging expenses for those who had intended to attend the canceled "Uma Musume: Pretty Derby" World Tour LA concert in person.
The show was planned as part of "Uma Musume Pretty Derby 7th EVENT WORLD TOUR THE STAGE," the series' first-ever world tour concert, with the LA performances scheduled to take place at the Peacock Theater on the 22nd and 23rd local time. Global fans held high expectations, as 17 voice actors voicing popular characters such as Tokai Teio, Oguri Cap, and Kitasan Black were set to take the stage.
However, recent visa-related issues in the United States held back the event. Cygames had been preparing visa applications for over six months in cooperation with local US attorneys and promoters, but failed to obtain approval with just days remaining before the concert. After continuously consulting with relevant authorities and partner companies to explore every possibility of holding the concert, Cygames ultimately decided to cancel after failing to secure the required visas.
In connection with this, Cygames issued an apology and promised full refunds for both in-person and online streaming tickets, while teasing additional support measures for fans planning to visit the location. The detailed compensation plan followed just one day later. This decision is seen as taking into account the significant financial damage faced by global fans who had already boarded flights or booked accommodations prior to the last-minute cancellation.
Under these follow-up measures, attendees who canceled their flight or hotel reservations due to the concert cancellation will be fully compensated for any resulting cancellation fees. Furthermore, as announced in an additional notice, fans who have already arrived in LA to attend the event will be reimbursed for eligible actual travel and lodging expenses incurred during the specified period.
For the compensation process, receipts and payment documentation that clearly state the payment purpose and total amount are required. Cygames urged fans, saying, "Submitting relevant documentation is necessary to process refunds, so please keep all proof documents related to your travel itinerary in a safe place." They added, "We are working to finalize the remaining details as quickly as possible, so please bear with us a little longer."
