Embark Studios has ended the limited-time PvE matchmaking toggle test in ARC Raiders, with more than 30 million rounds of PvE played over the test period.
The toggle gave players the option of player-versus-environment (PvE) matchmaking as an alternative to the game's usual PvPvE (player versus player versus environment) experience. According to the announcement on the ARC Raiders website, the volume of play has given the team "a huge amount of information to analyze", and it needs "a short period of time to dive into the numbers and draw out the insights."
The developer was open about how the test landed with players. "On a surface reading, we know that the test has been polarizing," the ARC Raiders team wrote. "As always, our decision on how to proceed will prioritize the overall health and enjoyability of the game."
What's next for ARC Raiders' PvE mode
No decision has been made yet on whether PvE matchmaking will return. Embark said it does not know what the data will show, but it expects to share more information in November.
In the meantime, the studio has asked players to post their thoughts in a dedicated PvE test feedback channel on its Discord server, including how PvE differed from their normal experience and how the typical PvPvE experience changed during the test. A survey will also go out to a representative sample of ARC Raiders players from October 22nd.
ARC Raiders is a multiplayer extraction adventure set on a future Earth overrun by a mechanised threat known as ARC. The game's Update 2.2 also rolled out today, adding the Wreck Set to the in-game store alongside a number of fixes.
