Nintendo is increasing repair fees for Switch 2 main consoles. Repairs involving CPU circuit board issues—such as when the power does not turn on—will rise by 9,900 yen, going from 27,500 yen to 37,400 yen. The new pricing will apply to items arriving at Nintendo on or after November 16.

Nintendo announced on the 16th through its official Japanese repair guidance page that it will adjust repair fees for Nintendo Switch 2 and original Nintendo Switch main consoles, citing rising repair component costs. The cut-off is determined by the date the item arrives at Nintendo—not the purchase or application date—so current prices will apply to items arriving by November 15.
The amount of the increase varies depending on the issue. For the Switch 2, replacing the LCD unit due to a cracked screen or touch malfunction will rise by 1,100 yen, from 15,400 yen to 16,500 yen. Repairs for a damaged game card slot, faulty USB-C port, or battery replacement will go from 9,900 yen to 11,000 yen, while issues like earphone sound failure or unreadable SD cards will increase from 7,150 yen to 8,250 yen. For the original Switch console, CPU board repairs will also rise by 9,900 yen, and LCD screen repairs will go up by 1,100 yen.
Nintendo did not disclose specifically which components increased by how much. The published figures are also reference prices; if replacing the indicated component does not resolve the issue and additional parts need to be replaced, the final cost may vary.
Attention is also focused on whether this repair price hike will extend to South Korea. On May 25, Nintendo of Korea raised the price of the Switch OLED model from 415,000 won to 465,000 won, and on June 29 announced that the MSRP for the Switch 2 would increase by about 17% from 648,000 won to 758,000 won starting September 1. This follows Nintendo's price hike in Japan in May, when it raised the Switch 2 console price by 10,000 yen from 49,980 yen to 59,980 yen, which subsequently led to price increases in South Korea.
Meanwhile, defects occurring under normal use within the warranty period remain eligible for free repairs, unaffected by this price hike. The warranty period for the Switch 2 is one year from the console's initial setup date.
