In the Google Play ASL Season 22 finals between Yoo Young-jin and Kim Min-chul held at the Lotte World Ice Rink in Jamsil, Seoul, Yoo Young-jin leads 2-1 through Set 3.
In Set 1 on Knockout, Yoo Young-jin secured his natural expansion while preparing Vultures with speed upgrades and even Valkyries. In response, Kim Min-chul invaded the Terran main base with Burrowed Zerglings to harass his opponent while preparing a Hydralisk attack. Yoo Young-jin, spotting the Hydralisks with his Vultures, successfully defended by producing Siege Tanks, putting himself in a very advantageous position.
Unable to finish the game, Kim Min-chul was forced to belatedly produce Drones and transition to a macro game, but the deficit was already too large. Ultimately, Yoo Young-jin assembled a bionic army for a full-scale push and took Set 1.
Kim Min-chul successfully struck back in Set 2. He harried Yoo Young-jin with fast Mutalisks while smoothly securing his 11 o'clock expansion. Then, while preparing Lurkers, he held off Yoo Young-jin's bionic push with a Hydralisk and Guardian composition before winning with a counterattack.
With the score tied at 1-1 in Set 3, Yoo Young-jin opened with a risky 7 Barracks build in front of his natural expansion. He got off to an advantageous start by killing a significant number of Drones through a bunker rush while securing his own natural expansion. Then, before Mutalisks hit the field, he breached the Sunken Colony line with his bionic forces, dealing substantial damage to his opponent's resource gathering. Yoo Young-jin did not drag out the match. With a standard push featuring Siege Tanks and Science Vessels, he skillfully exploited the timing right before Defilers emerged, taking back the lead at 2-1.
