SteelSeries announced that pre-orders in Korea for its Sensei Pro and Rival Pro wireless gaming mouse series, which support an 8K polling rate, will run from October 15 to October 28.
The lineup consists of four models: Sensei Pro, Sensei Pro Mini, Rival Pro, and Rival Pro Mini. Each model is available in Black and White, offering eight configurations in total. The full-size models weigh 53g, while the Mini models weigh 49g. Their shapes and ergonomics inherit those of the original Sensei and Rival, first introduced in 2011 and 2013, respectively.
The three core technologies applied to the new products are ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless connectivity, a true 8K polling rate, and a hot-swappable battery system. According to the company, UWB utilizes the 6.4GHz–9.056GHz frequency band to bypass the congested 2.4GHz spectrum, delivering approximately 20 times the bandwidth of 2.4GHz. By utilizing multiple wireless channels simultaneously, it provides a stable connection and low latency even in dense device environments.
The TrueMove 42K optical sensor and true 8K polling rate update positional data up to 8,000 times per second. SteelSeries explained that it responds up to 8 times faster than a standard 1,000Hz mouse. In maximum performance mode, the sensor runs continuously at 8K, delivering 20,000 FPS frame capture, 800 IPS tracking speed, and 70G acceleration. The optical switches feature a click lifespan of 100 million clicks and a click latency of 0.35ms.
The series also features SuperSync technology, which decouples sensor and click polling settings. Users can maintain click polling at a constant 8K while adjusting sensor polling to 1K, 2K, or 4K, reducing power consumption and system load.
The power system uses a dual hot-swappable battery design where one battery charges while the other is in use. Total battery life across both batteries is up to 32 hours at 8K (16 hours per battery) and up to 120 hours at 1K (60 hours per battery), allowing players to swap batteries seamlessly while gaming.
Customization options are supported through the revamped SteelSeries GG software. Features include Rotation Control, Lift-Off Distance adjustment, Scroll Jump Protection, Sensitivity Finder, cross-game Sensitivity Converter, and 3D Aim Trainer. SteelSeries also introduced the SteelSeries GG Web App, which allows users to adjust key settings directly from a web browser without installing additional software.
Hye-kyung Lee, Regional Manager of SteelSeries Korea, said, "To mark our 25th anniversary, we are proud to introduce the Sensei Pro and Rival Pro series—the culmination of SteelSeries' 25 years of engineering as high-end 8K UWB gaming mice." She added, "We hope these new products, featuring Ultra-Wideband (UWB) wireless technology and an 8K polling rate, enable many gamers to claim victory through speed and precise aim."
