Neptune announced on September 2 that it has signed a global publishing contract for '막다보니 천하통일', a roguelike defense game developed by Chinese game developer Kaixinjia.
'막다보니 천하통일' is an assault-style roguelike defense game where each match lasts about 5 minutes. Players design their battle strategies based on randomly presented choices, taking the field directly to confront incoming enemies rather than waiting for them. The game is structured so that troop combinations and combat dynamics change depending on the choices made in each match.
During battle, players can select one of three randomly presented choices to deploy a new unit type or upgrade existing ones. By combining troops with distinct roles—such as melee, ranged, cavalry, magic, and summoning—players build frontlines tailored to combat styles like defensive or area-of-effect (AoE) setups.
The game also provides a formation system utilizing 'Generals' and 'Strategists.' Players can collect and train famous generals of the Three Kingdoms, such as Guan Yu and Lu Bu, building tactics by deploying generals directly onto the battlefield and positioning strategists in the rear to boost stats for all allies.
In addition, the game features a progression system where resources automatically accumulate based on progress while offline, along with co-op play and alliance content such as missions, training, and battles.
According to Neptune, '막다보니 천하통일' accumulated 260 million yuan (approx. 50 billion won) in cumulative revenue in about 7 months after launching as a WeChat mini-game in China in late May 2025. It entered the top 10 in WeChat mini-game revenue rankings and maintained a position in the top 100 for over 6 months.
Neptune is preparing for global service, including South Korea, and plans to refine localization and service quality with a target launch in the second half of 2026.
Seung-hyun Kwon, Vice President and Head of Neptune's Game Business Division, said, "'막다보니 천하통일' is a title whose strength lies in unfolding diverse combat scenarios based on player decisions within a concise gameplay framework," adding, "We will do our utmost to prepare localization and stable operations so that global players can fully experience the fun of the game."
