Smilegate Hope Studio announced on September 1 that it will launch the 'Genshin Impact Forest Project: Traveler's Footsteps the Forest Will Remember' in collaboration with HoYoverse Korea.
The 'Genshin Impact Forest Project' is a corporate social responsibility initiative designed to celebrate the 6th anniversary of the open-world RPG 'Genshin Impact' by planting a forest that contributes to environmental protection and carbon reduction. As the first collaborative project between Hope Studio and HoYoverse Korea, it consists of a donation campaign titled 'Goods FUNding Where the Forest Grows' and a volunteer activity titled 'HEALing' with participation from players and creators.
The donation campaign will run on the Hope Studio platform until September 15. All collected funds will be used for planting trees and vegetation aimed at carbon reduction without deducting any operating expenses.
The volunteer sessions will take place twice in the vicinity of Yanghwa Hangang Park, where the 'Genshin Impact Forest' is being established, on September 13 and 20 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Approximately 100 'Genshin Impact' players will participate in planting a total of 4,010 trees and plants, including bridal-wreath spiraea, Cornelian cherry, and plum blossom trees.
The established 'Genshin Impact Forest' will be preserved for one year from September 28 through September 28, 2027. Afterwards, the operating entity and management methods may change in accordance with Seoul Metropolitan Government policies.
A representative from HoYoverse stated regarding the initiative that it demonstrates how a gaming IP can contribute to creating social value, adding that they hope players will directly participate in generating social impact.
Yeon-ju Kwon, Executive Director of Smilegate Hope Studio, stated that the organization will continue to serve as a platform that helps game developers, IPs, and players join in social contribution activities.
