Aniplex will take over publishing for 'Fate/EXTRA Record'. On August 31, TYPE-MOON announced the publisher transfer and changes to its development structure. The release date has not yet been revealed.

According to the product overview released by Aniplex on the same day, planning is handled by TYPE-MOON, development by Meteorise, and publishing by Aniplex. The target platforms are PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam). Nintendo Switch 2, which was not included in previous announcements, was added in this overview.

TYPE-MOON explained that it has made partial changes to the overall development and internal structure of TYPE-MOON studio BB. Consequently, the staff list displayed on the new official website and other channels will also change. The existing official website and X account will close around 5:00 PM on September 7, after which future updates will be delivered through new channels established by Aniplex.

'Fate/EXTRA Record' is a remake of 'Fate/EXTRA', an RPG released for the PSP in 2010. It was originally aimed for a 2025 release, but was previously delayed once to spring 2026.

On March 16, Notes and Bandai Namco Entertainment announced that following discussions, they agreed to review the development structure and change the publisher. As a result, publishing through Bandai Namco was halted, and the release window was postponed again. TYPE-MOON stated at the time that development of the game itself would continue.

On August 31, the same day as the publisher transfer announcement, TYPE-MOON studio BB Studio Director Kazuya Niiro also announced his departure from the company. Director Niiro shared that he has already stepped away from the development of 'Fate/EXTRA Record', resigned as director, and decided to remove his name from the staff credits.

He added that the remaining development team is continuing work toward the release, and that he will be taking a hiatus from game development for the time being due to health concerns. Neither party's announcement clarified whether there is a direct causal relationship between the publisher transfer and Director Niiro's departure.

Aniplex plans to disclose follow-up information through its new official channels in September.
