Ubisoft has revealed 'Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Tactics', a single-player turn-based tactical game set in the 'Rainbow Six' universe.

Ubisoft first revealed the new title 'Rainbow Six Tactics' during Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live. Unlike previous 'Rainbow Six' games centered around real-time tactical FPS gameplay, this title is being developed as a turn-based tactical game where players look down on the battlefield from an overhead perspective and issue commands to squad members.

Players will take on the role of a new commander of the rebuilt Rainbow unit, recruiting operators, executing high-stakes operations across the globe, and uncovering a vast conspiracy.

The game features a total of 15 operators, including familiar faces from 'Rainbow Six Siege', from which players choose four to assemble a squad. Each operator possesses unique abilities and equipment, allowing them to fulfill distinct roles depending on the mission and situation.

The signature destructible environments of 'Rainbow Six' also serve as a core mechanic. After scouting enemy positions and battlefield conditions using reconnaissance drones and various gadgets, players can breach walls to create new entry paths or destroy enemy cover to open up attack opportunities.

The game also features a 'Breach' system that allows players to plan the simultaneous actions of multiple operators for entry. By setting up the movement and actions of each operator in advance, squad members execute synchronized attacks, making it crucial to combine operator abilities with environmental destruction.

Over 50 missions will be available set in locations around the world, ranging from ancient Egyptian ruins to high-security Danish prisons. Objectives are varied, including hostage rescue, bomb disposal, and eliminating high-value targets.

Outside of combat, players can manage HQ by training operators, managing injuries, and upgrading equipment and skill trees. The game also includes features to expand various HQ departments to secure new gear and support capabilities.

'Rainbow Six Tactics' is being developed by Ubisoft Paris and is scheduled for release in 2027 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
