On August 25, the send-off ceremony for the South Korean national esports team competing in the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games was held at the Sangam Cube Convention Center in Mapo, Seoul. All 41 athletes and coaches competing across nine titles—including League of Legends, Tekken 8, and PUBG Mobile—attended the ceremony, solidifying their resolve to hunt for medals.

The event began with introductions of the national team athletes and coaches for each title, followed by a send-off report from the association detailing the selection process, operational progress, and local support plans, along with sponsor introductions and media interviews. The roster of national team athletes and coaches competing in the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games for each title is as follows:

■ League of Legends: Head Coach Kang Dong-hoon, Choi Woo-je, Kim Geon-bu, Kim Geon-woo, Lee Sang-hyeok, Lee Min-hyeong, Ryu Min-seok

■ Fighting Games: Head Coach Kang Seong-hun, Yeon Je-gil (Street Fighter 6), Bae Jae-min (Tekken 8), Lee Gwang-no (The King of Fighters XV)

■ Pokémon UNITE: Kim Jae-young, Park Seong-soon, Lee Ji-hwan, Jin Soo-bin, Cho Min-hyuk

■ Honor of Kings: Head Coach Jang Hyeong-jun, Cho Seong-bin, Han Ji-hoon, Lee Seob-gyu, Jeong Yun-ho, Lee Hoon-min, Han Seong-geon

■ PUBG Mobile [Asian Games Version]: Head Coach Yoon Sang-hoon, Kim Jun-ha, Park Sang-cheol, Song Soo-an, Jeon Hyun-bin, Jeong Yu-chan

Taking the microphone for the welcoming address, Kim Young-man, President of the Korea e-Sports Association (KeSPA), said, "I extend my heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to the athletes and coaches who earned the Taegeuk mark through a fierce selection process. I also express my thanks to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, Busan Metropolitan City, the Korea Institute of Sport Science, the Performance Enhancement Committee, esports teams, and all our partner companies for their support in every aspect."

He added, "Knowing that the sweat shed by the squad to reach this moment was not in vain, the association is sparing no effort in providing all-out support. I urge you to display all the skills you have honed without reserve. Behind you, the association, the fans, and the Korean public are always cheering. I wish the Republic of Korea national esports team the best of luck."

Sponsors supporting the national team include Disney+, Google Play, Hanwha Life, POSCO, Sidiz, Logitech G, GOALSTUDIO, Golden Dew, Jeju Samdasoo, Busan Metropolitan City, Mookclub, Revion, Wearwear, and Shinyoung Bus Line. Notably, Golden Dew plans to award commemorative rings engraved with the Taegeuk pattern and the coach's initials to the coaches of medal-winning disciplines.

The national team's training process and schedule were also revealed. The squad completed pre-call-up training according to each discipline's schedule. The PUBG Mobile team flew to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to observe regional qualifiers, while the Gran Turismo 7 team conducted overseas training in Osaka, Japan. For the first time in esports history, some members of the national team entered and trained at the Jincheon National Training Center.

The esports national team will assemble in Busan as early as the 26th to begin their final preparations. To bring their performance to its peak, support will be provided across various areas, including discipline-specific technical training, physical and psychological conditioning, professional physical therapy, strategic analysis, and scientific training methods. The League of Legends team will undergo training, including exhibition matches, from September 16 to 25.

Additionally, KeSPA set up a basecamp near the artificial island where the Asian Games finals will take place and established two training facilities in Nagoya City. These training facilities replicate an environment similar to the interior of the Asian Games arena and feature identical equipment to help the squad maintain peak condition until the end.

Meanwhile, the esports competitions at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games will kick off on September 22 with Gran Turismo 7 and eFootball matches. The schedule will conclude with League of Legends, which begins on September 29 and runs through to the final on October 2.
