Nexon (Co-CEOs Dae-hyun Kang and Jung-wook Kim) announced on the 24th that it hosted a Director Showcase and Birthday Party on the 23rd to celebrate the 21st service anniversary of its popular online FPS game, Sudden Attack.
Taking the stage at the showcase broadcast online from SOOP FreecUP Studio at 5 p.m. on the 23rd, Director Tae-hyun Kim reviewed key update achievements from the previous season before detailing update plans for the upcoming 2026 Season 4.
The theme of Sudden Attack's 2026 Season 4 is 'Moonrise', featuring new character 'Luna' and new weapon 'NOX(S)' as key concept representatives for the season. The upcoming season will also feature improvements to the popular 'Survival' mode, shifting combat dynamics by adjusting battlefield item drops, enhancing promotion rewards, and refining both matchmaking and VoiceTalk quality-of-life features.
In addition, a fourth weapon balance revision will refine six top-tier secondary weapons (pistols), including the DAP-2, TAC-9, VS-9, and PPS. Furthermore, a 'Custom Aim' feature will be added, allowing players to select the color and shape of their crosshair to customize their aiming environment to their liking.
Display options are also being expanded. A beta test offering 16:9 resolution as an in-game option will be conducted alongside field of view (FOV) settings. These features will initially be applied to Team Deathmatch and Search and Destroy (Bomb Mission) in normal matches, with plans to gradually expand their scope based on player feedback.
Additionally, the esports tournament environment will be improved by transitioning tournament servers to dedicated servers. This update will officially be implemented for the upcoming 2026 Sudden Attack Championship Season 2, which will open registrations on Thursday, September 10, hold qualifiers on Saturday, October 3, and officially begin on Saturday, October 24.
Prior to the showcase, the winner of the '21st Anniversary Weapon Skin Idea Contest' was announced. Out of approximately 12,000 player votes cast in the contest, 'Sky Bloom', which emphasizes a refreshing aesthetic, took first place. Nexon will award the winner prizes including 500,000 Nexon Cash and plans to recreate the winning design as an actual in-game weapon skin in the future.
In addition, players from 'FINF', champions of 2026 Sudden Attack Championship Season 1, participated in the 'UP Together' cooperative content challenge and a 'Two as One' exhibition match. To heighten spectator engagement, a 2v2 event match paired 'FINF' players with amateur competitors from the 'TaeD Cup'. A match prediction event further added to the festive atmosphere by giving in-game item rewards to viewers who correctly guessed the winning team. The event match took place on the new maps 'The Mall' and 'Line' added earlier this month, with team 'Nexus'—composed of pro player Geon-wook Cheon and amateur player Kyung-min Park—taking the final victory.
