Kakao Games (Co-CEOs Kim Tae-hwan, Lee Si-woo) announced on the 24th that it has officially launched 'Ohneulduhodoo', a new casual brain training game developed by Beluga (CEO Kim Jong-yoon), a startup specializing in cognitive function measurement and therapeutics, in South Korea.
'Ohneulduhodoo' is the official service name for the 'hodoo (tentative)' project jointly researched by Kakao Games and Beluga. Beluga is a startup specializing in cognitive function measurement and digital therapeutics, composed of expert groups including a research team from Seoul National University College of Medicine, cognitive scientists, and brain engineers. The company develops games based on neuroscience and cognitive psychology research.
In particular, 'Ohneulduhodoo' is structured to help users manage five core areas in a balanced manner: ▲Memory ▲Attention (Focus) ▲Executive Function ▲Language Skills ▲Visuospatial Ability. With intuitive gameplay and diverse content that anyone of all ages and genders can use easily and consistently in daily life, people of all ages interested in brain health care can enjoy it without burden.
Users can train core cognitive functions every day by playing a variety of casual games and continuously monitor their changes through growth records by area. In addition to casual games, the game adds shared enjoyment through systems such as 'Mission Challenge', where players take on various goals, and 'Social Ranking', where they compare records and compete with other users.
Academically proven cognitive function enhancement techniques are applied to each game content, and based on highly reliable cognitive function measurement and training feedback, it supports users in continuously managing their cognitive status and training results.
Kakao Games and Beluga signed a business agreement in 2023 and have been conducting joint research on serious games for the diagnosis, prevention, and management of dementia. Professor Min Kyung-bok of the Department of Preventive Medicine at Seoul National University College of Medicine participated as a co-researcher, and prior to 'Ohneulduhodoo', a paper proving the cognitive measurement effectiveness of 'BrainOK', a dementia sign detection game launched in June 2024, was published in the medical journal 'Diagnostics', among other ongoing research efforts.
'Ohneulduhodoo' is available for download on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
