Global interactive entertainment brand HoYoverse will introduce two new 5-star characters and a variety of summer vacation-themed content in the Version 4.5 update for its galactic fantasy RPG, Honkai: Star Rail, arriving on August 26.

In the version 4.5 update, 'A Gamble Cast to the Stars,' players will embark on a journey to save 'Ideal Paradise' from the threat of 'Gluttony.' The protagonist, the Trailblazer, heads to 'Astropolis'—the headquarters of 'Star Rail Entertainment,' a major hub for the IPC and a resort for envoys and tycoons—in search of the power of salvation. Along the way, they must navigate the complex interests of the IPC's elite to find the key to overcoming the disaster.

Additionally, the 'Trailblaze Continuance' story will open, featuring a special vacation tale set in space alongside characters like Robin and Aventurine. New playable characters include the 5-star Wind-type 'Robin: Summereto,' who follows the Path of Memory, and the 5-star Quantum-type 'Aventurine: Wave,' who follows the Path of Elation.

After Sunday leaves Penacony, Robin becomes the head of the Oak Family and joins the mission with the secret task of uncovering Gopher Wood's legacy. In battle, 'Robin: Summereto' accumulates 'Stage Heat' based on allies' actions; entering 'Fever Time' through this mechanic grants buffs to ally attacks. Her ultimate skill provides excellent support, restoring energy to a designated ally, granting them an immediate action, and further increasing her own 'Stage Heat.'

'Aventurine: Wave,' who appears in the second half of the version, uses surfing and beach volleyball as weapons to strike enemies. He gathers 'Laughter Points' and 'Enthusiasm' when using skills or when party members act. Once 'Enthusiasm' reaches a certain threshold, he triggers an additional 'Elation Skill' to strike all enemies and a random single target. Notably, the damage of his 'Elation Skill' increases as the number of actions taken by party members grows.

The first half of the 'Warp' event, which features increased drop rates, will include the limited 5-star character 'Robin: Summereto' and the limited 5-star Light Cone 'You Shall Sing Forth,' along with a rerun of the limited 5-star character 'Hyacin.' Starting September 12, the rate-up event for the limited 5-star character 'Aventurine: Wave' and the limited 5-star Light Cone 'Cast into the Waves' will begin, accompanied by a rerun of the limited 5-star character 'Ashvale.

Numerous limited-time events have been prepared for Version 4.5 to provide new experiences. These include 'Limit Break: Sprint Grand Prix,' where players become a racing team manager, and 'Tiny Adventure,' a stage-based challenge with a lower difficulty level. Furthermore, content related to the 'Divergent Universe' will be updated, and the 'Planar Fissure' and 'Realm of the Strange' events will offer double rewards. In terms of quality-of-life improvements, a new cosmetic for the Trailblazer, 'Digital Emoji Headpiece,' will be introduced, and a 'Fast-Forward' feature for story sequences will be supported starting in Version 4.5.

Meanwhile, HoYoverse announced a collaboration with audio equipment brand MOONDROP to coincide with this update. Future plans include collaborative products themed around 'Sparky,' as well as a series of global online and offline events. By the end of this year, a surprise collaboration with Zenless Zone Zero will be added to Honkai: Star Rail, allowing characters from the Zenless Zone Zero universe to join the galactic adventure.
