GG Studio and Folden Publishing announced on the 17th that the dice-poker roguelite 'Cheat Death' has officially launched on PC via Steam.
'Cheat Death' is a strategic roguelite where players gamble their lives in a game of dice poker against the Reaper at a table balanced between life and death. Players must complete poker hands using cursed dice and combine various buffs and items to turn the tide of matches that are stacked against them.
Instead of cards, the game uses dice with realistic physics to form poker hands. There are four types of dice, each with unique abilities that change how hands are formed and dictate the direction of a player's build. Throughout each run, players must collect dice and buffs to complete their build and create powerful synergies.
The core of the game lies in cheating to manipulate the outcome of the match. Players can steal dice from the Reaper, swap them with their own, reroll unwanted dice, or manually flip them to the desired side to get the numbers they need. The Reaper also employs various tricks to interfere with the player's hand and reverse the results.
Beyond dice poker, the game includes several high-stakes minigames, such as roulette and the wheel of fortune. Each minigame puts the player's life on the line, requiring the strategic use of items and buffs. During the journey, players will also encounter bosses that introduce new rules and variables that differ from standard dice poker.
The story branches based on the player's choices, leading to a total of six different endings. Players traverse the Astral—a space between life and death—where they meet lost souls and face different fates depending on whether they choose to save or punish them.
Developed by the Germany-based indie studio GG Studio and published by Cyprus-based indie publisher Folden Publishing, 'Cheat Death' supports a Korean interface and subtitles. The domestic retail price is ₩14k. To celebrate the launch, a 24% discount is available until the 30th, allowing players to purchase the game for ₩10640 during the promotional period.
