It has been officially confirmed that the 2026 Call of Duty title will be a new entry in the Modern Warfare series, currently in development by Infinity Ward.
On the 22nd, Infinity Ward announced its commitment as a developer and confirmed the development of the new Modern Warfare title via its official X (formerly Twitter) account. The announcement, which begins with the phrase "We are Infinity Ward," naturally weaves in the studio's new vision and aspirations for the upcoming game.
Infinity Ward stated, "We create intense, immersive combat experiences that are on another level," adding, "A new chapter for the studio has begun, and we are moving forward with the passion, dedication, and unwavering drive to create the best content in the industry."
The studio further expressed strong confidence in the new project, adding, "We are firm, bold, and relentless in our choices. Every detail and system in the game is born from a team that pushes every moment to the limit."
Infinity Ward studio heads Mark Grigsby and Jack O'Hara shared, "On behalf of everyone at Infinity Ward, we are proud of what we have built and are thrilled to finally share it with you."
Following today's (22nd) announcement, some are speculating that an official reveal of the new Modern Warfare title may be imminent. Industry observers predict that, similar to the case of 'Black Ops 7,' the new game will be unveiled at the end of the 'Xbox Games Showcase 2026.' That showcase is scheduled to take place on June 8, headlined by 'Gears of War: E-Day.'
Meanwhile, this new Modern Warfare title previously became a hot topic among Korean gamers following leaks suggesting it might cover a second Korean War.
