The organizing committee of 'BitSummit,' Japan's largest indie game exhibition, has revealed the major award-nominated works for 'BitSummit PUNCH,' which will be held at Miyako Messe in Kyoto from May 22 to 24. Along with this, additional information regarding the second stage event was announced, heightening the festive atmosphere. The 'BitSummit PUNCH' awards will be conducted in a total of eight categories. For six categories, including the 'Vermillion Gate Award' (meaning the grand prize), the International Award, the Innovative Rebellious Spirit Award, and the Best Game Design Award, the final selection will be made from nominees recommended by the judges. In particular, the winners of the two categories, 'Popular Selection' and 'Kids Selection,' which reflect the voice of the public, will be determined by on-site voting by visitors on the day of the event. Formidable titles have been nominated for the most prestigious 'Grand Prize,' including 'Denshattack!' (Undercoders), 'Am I Nima' (HO! Games), and a sequel by the team that created 'OPUS: Prism Peak' (SIGONO). Additionally, in the 'Innovative Rebellious Spirit' category, titles such as 'Broadcast Start! Taxi Mystery Case Files,' armed with unique ideas, have been nominated to showcase the creativity characteristic of indie games. Another highlight of this year's awards is the participation of Shuhei Yoshida, former SIE (Sony Interactive Entertainment) Worldwide Studios Presents and current CEO of yosp Inc. Mr. Yoshida, who has long served as a steadfast supporter of indie game developers, will serve as a judge and presenter for the 'International Awards' at this event, contributing to promoting the potential of indie games worldwide. During the event, the awards ceremony for the six major categories will be held on the evening of Saturday, May 23, and the results of the audience vote will be announced on the final day, Sunday, the 24th. The entire awards ceremony will be broadcast live worldwide via official live streaming. An official from the BitSummit Organizing Committee stated, "BitSummit, marking its 14th year, has continued to grow every year, recording over 58,000 visitors last year," adding, "This 'BitSummit Punch' will also showcase the true essence of indie games through stage events and a diverse range of entries." Detailed stage information and the list of nominees can be found on the official special page.
