Neptune (CEO Kang Yul-bin) announced that 'Penguin Run,' a new mobile game from its development subsidiary Encroki, has surpassed 1.5 million global pre-registrations.
Scheduled for global release on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store this April, Penguin Run is a casual running game that follows the story of 'Pinko,' who races through various themed worlds to rescue their mother from aliens. The game features intuitive controls centered on jumping and sliding, with gameplay focused on obstacle avoidance, timing-based actions, and navigating stage-specific gimmicks.
The stages begin in the Arctic and expand into forests, deserts, and cities, with each world featuring unique obstacles and gameplay elements. Beyond simple running, players can enter portals to access additional content, such as boss battles and mystery obstacles.
Players can also obtain approximately 4.6 million character skin combinations through a gacha system, mixing and matching head and outfit parts. A synthesis system allows players to combine characters they own to acquire new ones, providing both the fun of collection and the experience of creating diverse character combinations.
Encroki is preparing events for new users that offer generous rewards, including attendance bonuses and mission completion prizes. The company also plans to sequentially introduce multiplayer content, such as competitive modes and cooperative missions, for users to enjoy together.
Encroki is a mobile casual game development subsidiary of Neptune. Its previous title, the survival battle royale game 'Battle Racer: Zombie Island,' also drew significant attention before launch, reaching 2 million pre-registrations within four months.
Encroki CEO Kim Doo-sik said, "We are deeply grateful for the interest and support of the 1.5 million users who participated in the pre-registration. We will continue to expand our themed worlds and animal character lineup, and consistently introduce content that users can enjoy together to further enhance the fun of the game."
