Paper Rex captured its first international trophy Sunday at the VALORANT Masters Toronto finals, downing Europe’s top seed Fnatic 3–1 at the Enercare Centre. The victory extended the Pacific region’s Masters title run to three straight events, following Gen.G’s triumph in Shanghai 2024 and T1’s win in Bangkok earlier this year.

Seeded third from the Pacific Stage 1, Paper Rex swept through the Toronto playoffs without a loss. After opening with a win over Team Heretics, the squad dropped its only match of the event to Gen.G, then rebounded to eliminate Team Liquid. In the winners’ bracket, Pacific hopes continued with a 2–0 victory against Americas champion G2 Esports, a clean sweep of Sentinels, and a shutout of China’s surprise Wolves Esports to reach the grand final.

In the championship series against Fnatic, Paper Rex claimed the opening map 13–11 by winning the final eight rounds after a 5–4 half. Fnatic answered with a 17–15 comeback in map two to force momentum, but Pearl swung back to Paper Rex, who surrendered just three rounds in the second half for a 13–10 result. The title was sealed on Lotus in overtime, as the Pacific squad won both extra rounds to clinch the 3–1 victory. Omen specialist Jason “f0rsakeN” Susanto earned MVP honors for consistently high-impact play throughout the competition.

The finish was in stark contrast to Gen.G’s campaign, as the Korean powerhouse fell twice in the early playoff rounds and missed the semifinals. After dispatching Fnatic in the first round, Gen.G dropped back-to-back matches to Wolves Esports and G2 Esports, ending its run one win short of the top four.

Paper Rex’s champions prize totaled $350,000, while Fnatic received $200,000 and Wolves Esports took $125,000. The result underscores VALORANT’s expanding global franchise structure, in which regional leagues in the Pacific, Americas, EMEA and China culminate in marquee events like Masters and Champions.
