RRQ Upsets Gen.G 3–1 in VCT Pacific Stage 1 Final

Gen.G’s unbeaten run through the winners’ bracket came to an end as Indonesia’s Rex Regum Qeon toppled the South Korean squad 3–1 in the VCT Pacific Stage 1 championship match at the SOOP Colosseum. After Gen.G claimed the opening map on Haven, RRQ rallied to secure their first Pacific Region title and halt Gen.G’s bid for back-to-back Stage 1 crowns.

Gen.G seized control early on Haven, building a comfortable lead and closing out the map 13–8 thanks to coordinated aggression and solid utility usage. On Ascent, RRQ stormed out to a 9–0 advantage before Gen.G mounted an eight-round comeback, narrowing the score to 11–10; however, RRQ halted the rally and claimed the map 13–11. Lotus proved decisive in RRQ’s favor when Gen.G’s momentum faltered after halftime, surrendering five straight rounds and ultimately falling 9–13 despite standout individual performances.

The fourth map remained tight through the first half, tied at 6–6, but RRQ maintained composure to win the pistol round and build enough momentum to capture the final three rounds for a 13–11 victory. RRQ’s ascent from lower-bracket challenger to Pacific champion underscores the organization’s rapid rise from underdog status to elite contender in the region.

Gen.G, which also finished as runner-up in Stage 1 last year, will now turn its attention to Valorant Masters Toronto beginning June 7, where they will enter directly into the Swiss stage. Immediately following the final, Riot Games held the Stage 2 group draw, placing RRQ, Gen.G, DRX, Nongshim RedForce, Global Esports and Team Secret in the "group of death" Alpha. Omega Group will feature Boom Esports, Talon Esports, T1, Paper Rex, Zeta Division and DetonatioN FocusMe, setting the stage for another fiercely competitive chapter in the Pacific Region.
