Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players can currently get their hands on two free in-game items. 

For a limited time, two Spirits will be available for players to snag. These are in-game collectibles will be given to players at random. Thee Primary Spirits are from Spirits Set 2 and will include one Legendary tier Spirit and one Ace tier support Spirit. 

How to get free Spirits in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The two free Spirits are exclusive to players who are subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online. This is essentially Nintendo's version of the PlayStation Plus pass except it's much cheaper and much, much worse. For many people playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Nintendo Switch Online is a continuous source of frustration, ranging from limited in-game communication to terrible and laggy gameplay. 

Is it worth it for the Spirits? 

That really depends on how little you value your sanity. 

Nintendo Switch Online has allowed Ness and other spammy projectile fighters to thrive. It's completely changed the meta and Smash players have agreed to not even really count online tournaments towards the Panda Global Rankings. 

But you will get two free Spirits. 

Visit Nintendo Switch Online from your Switch's home menu. You'll then see a tab within the app called "Special Offers." You'll see the Smash Ultimate offer, called Spirits Set 2. 

Keep in mind that you can't use the Nintendo Switch Online free trial. You will need to sell away your soul and suffer tremendously. But you will get two free Spirits.
