SKT apologizes for "rushed takedowns of VODs"

SK Telecom T1 released an official statement regarding the recent YouTube VOD Takedowns.

SKT apologized for their "initial approach without fully understanding the copyrights of LoL contents...and rushed takedowns of VODs". SKT explained that they felt that they could generate additional revenue for players with personal streaming and VOD management, but they wanted to address the situation that "damaged our player income".

Thus in future, they will issue takedown requests "only through Riot Games". Also, more importantly, SKT will "make sure to revive" the VODs that does not go against the guideline set by Riot Games, and VODs will be "carefully review"ed before requests for takedowns are issued through Riot Games.

Considering how SKT also unveiled their renovated YouTube channel with several new videos, it seems that SKT is indeed serious about VOD management, and backing their words with actions. What remains to be seen is the fate of the content creators who were affected by DMCA takedowns.
