NCSoft Announces Time Takers Closed Beta for North and South America

NCSoft (Co-CEOs Taek-Jin Kim and Byung-Moo Park) announced on the 20th that the first Closed Beta Test (CBT) for Time Takers, a PC and console third-person survival shooter currently in development by Mistil Games (Co-CEOs Yong-Soo Seo and Yong-Min Cho), will run from March 13 through March 21.

The test will primarily target players in North and South America. Eligible regions include the United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, and Peru. Players outside these regions may apply separately via the game’s official Discord channel.

Daily playtime will be capped at a maximum of eight hours. Based on Korea Standard Time (KST), servers will be accessible from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The development team stated that this test will focus on validating core gameplay systems and collecting player feedback.

Time Takers is a team-based survival shooter built around the use of “Time Energy” as its central resource. Players gather Time Energy within combat zones to enhance their abilities. A defining strategic mechanic allows players to share their own lifespan — represented as time — with teammates during critical situations to aid survival.

The game does not feature fixed roles. Instead, playstyles shift dynamically depending on weapon selection and passive ability choices. Matches are structured across seven phases. As phases progress, the amount of Time Energy available decreases, naturally increasing combat frequency.

CBT participants will be able to experience 12 characters, 10 weapon types, and three maps. Players interested in joining can search for Time Takers on Steam, the global PC gaming platform, and submit a test application.

Mistil Games is a game development studio founded in 2022. Through its investment in the studio, NCSoft secured an equity stake as well as global publishing rights for the title outside of China. Time Takers was first revealed via a teaser video at G-STAR 2023, and development has been underway with an original target launch window set for 2025.
