On the 18th of January, at the LoL Park, day 3 of the 2019 LCK Spring Split took place. On the second series of the day, SK Telecom T1 defeated Afreeca Freecs with a score of 2-0. Throughout the series, Clid displayed a very proactive playstyle, enabling his laners through frequent ganks and map control. His ability to read the pace of the game helped SKT take the dominating victory against AF. 

The following is an interview with SKT Clid.

How’s Korea treating you?

This is what I wanted, so I’m giving it my all. I always wanted to return to Korea; I’ve spent too much time in China, I missed my home country. LCK was also a new, exciting challenge for me.


In order for a jungler to play an aggressive style, your laners need to be able to provide quick backup. Upon hearing the news of you joining SKT, some fans were worried. That’s because Faker had shown the tendency in the past to avoid jungle fights and/or skirmishes that happen outside of the mid lane in the early-to-mid game. Have you put this into consideration when joining SKT?

When I played in the LPL, I used to ask for the support’s backup so many times that the ADC of the team went as far as to make a complaint towards me. I kind of toned that part of me down, however.

I actually did consider Faker’s playstyle and his quickness in providing backup for his jungler before joining SKT. If Faker wasn't able to change his playstyle when I joined, the team wouldn't have had a strong improvement. I do listen to Faker’s calls, but when I feel that I truly need his help in something, I say it loudly without hesitation. That part of Faker has seen a lot of improvement. I'm happy with how we're playing at the moment. 


There are a lot of famous players on SKT such as Faker. As for you, although you were a popular player in China, you’re not too well known outside of the LPL. Despite this, however, even when playing amidst a bunch of superstars, you played extremely confidently.

Being famous and having a name for yourself is important. However, you also need to be skilled, too. But of course, I believe they became famous in the first place because they are skilled.

I’ll need to do well in order to become a player of their caliber. I’m doing my best to become like them.
