Later this week at the first annual Inven Global Esports Gaming Conference (IGEC)Courtney “GlitchxCity” Williams, Mandie Roman, Skye “Nightris” Bui, and Susie Kim: will discuss the female gaming experience on our “Voice Chat Off: Working and Playing as a Woman in Gaming” panel.

GlitchxCity is a popular video game remix artist, as well as streamer and YouTuber, and Roman is a host and producer for Game Talk Live. Both Nightris and Kim work within esports organizations, with the latter recently having accepted a position within the Overwatch League as the London Spitfire’s general manager and the former working as the content manager for Echo Fox.

Coming from all walks of life and holding a variety of notable positions within the industry, these women will lend their voices and experiences to women involved in the esports and gaming industries at every level. Our panelists will dive deep into the female gaming experience, offering their unique, seasoned perspectives on not only the lack of female pro players, but the rampant in-game harassment of girl gamers and the future of women in the industry as a whole.

In examining too easily overlooked issues plaguing female gamers across the board, IGEC’s “Voice Chat Off: Working and Playing as a Woman in Gaming” panel hopes to enlighten those who do not commonly experience such prejudices, as well as spark a discussion about how to improve the female gaming experience overall. Those in attendance are welcomed and encouraged to bring any and all questions for the panelists.

Panel abstract from IGEC homepage:

Conversational in nature, unfiltered in delivery, this panel serves to illuminate the challenges and realities of working and playing in the gaming industry as a woman. Navigating a male-dominated field that, historically, has failed to appeal or market itself towards girls of any age has created real obstacles for the women looking to turn a love of gaming into a full-time career. This panel discussion followed by a Q & A session will discuss these issue while providing insights on how to overcome them.
