Netmarble announced Tuesday that recruitment is now open for the second closed beta test (CBT) of its upcoming action RPG Mongil: Star Dive, currently being developed by Netmarble Monster. The CBT will run from Sept. 30 to Oct. 10 on PC via the Netmarble Launcher and the Epic Games Store. Interested players can apply on the official Mongil: Star Dive website until Sept. 29.
This round of testing will introduce Episode 2 of the main storyline, continuing the journey of the 9th Brigade of the Solar Knights. Characters Esther, Flare and Reina will uncover new details about the corruption twisting once-docile monsters into hostile threats. The CBT will also give players a first look at Daisy, a character set to fully debut in Episode 3.
New Features and Gameplay
The second CBT will highlight the Monsterling Link Chain system, an expansion of the game’s unique creature collection mechanic. Monsterlings, collectible creatures players can equip like keychains, will now provide effects such as skill activation. The feature also introduces minigames, including Monster Racing, alongside more than 30 new Monsterlings to discover.
A new raid boss, Amon, will debut as part of the test, alongside fresh dungeons offering new ways to enhance artifacts and abilities. Netmarble is also adding cooking and crafting systems to broaden gameplay variety.
“The 2nd CBT will showcase a wide range of new content for the very first time, allowing players to experience the core gameplay of Mongil: Star Dive,” said Jung Ho Lee, game publishing director at Netmarble. “We place the highest priority on user feedback and encourage all participants to share their thoughts.”
The title serves as the follow-up to Netmarble’s 2013 mobile RPG Monster Taming and features Unreal Engine 5-powered visuals, three-character tag-based combat, and monster-taming mechanics. Mongil: Star Dive is set for a global release on PC and mobile in the second half of 2025. Netmarble will showcase the game at Tokyo Game Show 2025, beginning Sept. 25 in Japan. Players can pre-register via the official site, the Epic Games Store, Google Play, and the App Store.
