Everyone who attended the Overwatch League this Thursday received a free Soldier: 76 statue

If you visited the Overwatch League today, you were in for a surprise.  Whether you knew about the promotion posted 6 days ago or not, every ticket holder who showed up this Thursday has received a commemorative Soldier: 76 figure that was originally included in the Collectors Edition version of Overwatch.

This particular figure is no longer available for purchase, so any collectors out there who missed their chance were given a second one in the form of OWL attendance.

No doubt in an attempt to bolster attendance on what has been revealed to be the slowest OWL day, these type of promotions serve to tackle the problem of differentiating between the at home Twitch viewing experience and it's in person alternative. That is to say, Blizzard is making it clear that fans who show up to Arena in person deserve a little extra to reward their dedication.

This isn't the first step Blizzard has made towards rewarding fans who attend in person. For example,  fans who bought tickets in person last week were given the option to buy tickets for this week at a discounted rate. These type of moves encourage repeat visitors and allow die-hard Overwatch League fans fill the stands every week without having to spend too much.

If you missed this promotion, fear not. Blizzard shows no signs of slowing down their fan-service and, who knows, maybe more free swag will be available in the future.
