[LCK Today] Unstoppable Gen.G extends winning streak to 8, Griffin falls to an 8-game losing streak

The 2020 League of Legends Champions Korea Spring Split continued in an online format. The first match of the 28th (KST) was APK Prince vs. DAMWON Gaming. Jang "Ghost" Yong-jun started for DAMWON for the first time since he joined the team. Game 1 was extremely intense. The two teams fought fiercely for 54 minutes and a total of 51 kills occurred. Both were the highest record for the LCK this season. Although APK pulled close in the game, DAMWON was able to destroy APK's Nexus.

The following game was a lot faster. Although Jang "Nuguri" Ha-gwon's Akali was solo killed twice, DAMWON's teamfights were splendid. Cho "BeryL" Geon-hee's Leona shined in every teamfight. After a big win around the Infernal Dragon soul, DAMWON went in to finish the game. With the win, DAMWON finally broke their losing streak.

The second match was between Gen.G Esports and Afreeca Freecs. Afreeca selected the Senna-Tahm Kench comp while Gen.G picked mid Zilean. The game seesawed throughout the game. Afreeca scored an Ace at a dragon fight but Gen.G struck back right away. After Gen.G took the Ocean Dragon's soul, the fights went in Gen.G's way. In Game 2, one big teamfight decided the game. Gen.G had the upper hand for a long time and managed to dominate their opponents in one big teamfight at the 33-minute mark. With the win, Gen.G extended their winning streak to eight games.

The start of the game wasn't bad for Griffin. Although they gave up first blood, Griffin struck back by stopping a counter-jungle and diving bot lane. They took both the dragon and Herald through their advantage. However, Griffin wasn't able to snowball their lead enough. Kim "Deft" Hyuk-gyu's Varus and Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon's LeBlanc scaled well and their presence in teamfights was just simply too much for Griffin.

In the second game, DragonX picked two ADCs, Lucian and Kalista. In this game as well, Griffin started off advantageous, but DragonX didn't fall easy. As Lucian started to scale with four kills, it was hard to stop him. The global gold difference gap was more than 6,000 and DragonX snowballed to victory. Chovy was voted as the player of the game for both games. On the other hand, Griffin fell to an 8-game losing streak.
