Post Malone gets turned into Pokémon trainer in latest promo

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of Pokémon with special events, merchandise, and collaborations being released all year long. Most notably Saturday, Feb. 27 is official Pokémon Day (launch of the video games in Japan in 1996) with a handful of festivities planned for the occasion. Announced today, Post Malone will be hosting a virtual concert presented by P25 Music.

From the teaser reveal above, Post Malone is rocking a yellow and black suit, an ode to Pikachu perhaps?

As he grabs the mic we get a quick glimpse of his rings with stones of blue, red, and green to represent the starter Pokémon types.

Lastly, as Post Malone is about to hit the stage he looks down to a Pokéball in his hand and transforms into an animated version of himself. Does this mean Post Malone will perform as his Pokémon trainer persona?

The concert will celebrate 25 years of Pokémon, and according to the official website, include “lots of unexpected surprises and thrilling P25 Music announcements.”

This marks the second P25 music announcement we've gotten this year, as a partnership with Katy Perry was revealed back in January. Guess we'll need to tune into the event to see if Katy gets the Pokémon trainer treatment as well!

The P25 Music Virtual Concert will be viewable via YouTube, Twitch, and at Pokemon.com/25 beginning at 4 p.m. PST/7 p.m. EST on Feb. 27.
