KT Smeb: "Not only I was thrown off, but I even felt angry about their Yasuo pick."

On July 12nd (KST), KT Rolsters defeated Jin Air Green Wings in the second match of 27th day of 2017 LCK Summer Split. Kyungho "Smeb" Song was interviewed by OGN after the match as he was named the MVP for both games that KT have won.

Smeb started the interview by expressing how he was glad to have broken the curse that he had with losing Game 2s. "We've often lost matches when we dropped the second game. So we wanted to break that curse when we went to Game 3, and I'm glad that we actually pulled it off."

It has only been a few days since the Rift Rivals, yet KT players were still determined to win, as every win counts in LCK. "We are very tired, but we did our best to prepare for the LCK matches because every match win counts."

Smeb continued his undefeated streak with Shen in Game 1, but Smeb didn't actually practice much with Shen in scrims. "I actually don't use Shen that much in scrims, but I get a lot of chance to play with him in actual matches. Since our DPS players are doing very well recently, I felt that it was possible for me to pick Shen."

The game also had Score playing Nidalee, an off-meta champion, that Smeb explained as a pick that was prepared for some time. "He was actually prepared to pick it for a while but never had the chance. I'm glad he managed to pull through."

Game 2 was very interesting in that JAG's SoHwan played Yasuo in the game. While it was a welcome surprise for the fans, it made Smeb pretty upset. "Not only I was thrown off, but I even felt angry about their Yasuo pick. My teammates calmed me down so that I wouldn't go crazy on Yasuo."

When asked whether Yasuo was a good counterpick against Gnar, Smeb was more reserved on his opinion. "This could be because I don't play Yasuo that much, but I don't think Yasuo is a good pick against Gnar, and Gnar actually has a good chance against Yasuo. Of course, Yasuo mains may think otherwise."

As mentioned above, Smeb really wanted to break the curse with losing Game 2, and thanks to the team's coach, KT managed to pull through with their strength even after being tilted. "Strong laning phase is one of our team's strength. I avoided playing with champions with strong laning because I wanted to play with more variety, but I had to play a strong laning champion in Game 3."

Finally, Smeb ended the interview by as he thanked the fans for staying late into the night. "Thank you for cheering for us through the night, and I hope the students that came to cheer for us would do well in their upcoming test. I'm always grateful. Thank you."
